hardware:Abbreviated as HW, Hardware is best described as a device that is physically connected to your computer, something tangible. Most hardware will contain a circuit board, ICs, and other electronics. A perfect example of hardware is a computer monitor, which is an output device that allows the user to interface visually with the computer. Without any hardware, your computer would not exist, andsoftware would not be able to run.
The picture is a Logitech webcam and an example of an external hardware peripheral. This hardware device allows users to take videos or pictures and transmit them over the Internet.
software:Sometimes abbreviated as SW and S/W, softwareis a collection of instructions that enable the user to interact with a computer or have it perform specific tasks for them. Without software, computers would be useless. For example, without your Internetbrowser software you would be unable to surf the Internet or read this page and without a softwareoperating system the browser would not be able to run on your computer. In the picture is a Microsoft Excel software box and an example of a software program.
